Events,Observations,Comments:

9 participants, including 5 newish members started paddling at 10.30am from below Bow Falls in 2 tandems, 2 solo canoes, 2 kayaks and one SUP. River was running at a very manageable 54cms. Excellent paddling conditions and a great group. Towards the end of the trip we decided to switch up some paddling partners. One boat misjudged the line and the paddlers took an unexpected swim. Canoe rescue techniques were used to free the jammed canoe and soon the group was back on the water, this time paddling into a headwind from the east most of the way back to the takeout, arriving at 3.30pm, with plenty of time to complete the shuttle and head to Kananaskis Campout.
I recommend using the Hwy 1 boat launch near the Three Sisters turnoff as it avoids the traffic congestion and parking problems of downtown Canmore and adds a very pleasant 5 km of paddling to this reach.
