Event Details

Our 3 day adventure, July 30 to August 1, will be Content to Trenville to Tolman, finishing at Morrin.  You are welcome to join or leave at specific locations. Kayak and Canoes welcome.  Experiences with paddle strokes to keep the canoe straight, maneuvering, eddy turns, ferries, landing and launching on uneven ground.

River camping means we will not have our vehicles, all gear is loaded in our boats.

Car shuttle is about 2 and a half hours from Content to Morrin, so depending on who signs up, the car shuttle may take place Sunday after the Sunday paddle, then camp at Alicen’s place. We will be utilizing the car shuttle service of TL Ranch to assist us.

Sunday, we join Allison Ireland’s plan for paddling at Content bridge.  Her details for this day are:

Sunday morning we shuttle some vehicles to Content Bridge on Hwy #11, which is again about a 15 minute drive further east. Last year they charged $10 vehicle to park  (to be determined ) Starting again at 10 a.m., we paddle from Ireland’s to Content Bridge. ( 20 kms, 3-5 hrs. depending on your pace. ) This part of the river is slower with a couple of small riffles. Historically, by the end of July it is getting low and slow.

Then…

Depending on length of day, we may continue to Trenville, which is 30 klms more.  We will stop overnight along the river bank if day is too long.

Monday, we will continue to paddle to Big Valley and Dry Island Buffalo Jump – camp nearby.  Paddlers are welcome to jump in our out here, parking available and Dry Island Buffalo Jump.

Tuesday, we will paddle to Tolman and finish our adventure at Morrin.  A nice takeout on river left, vehicles can be left here.

As Allison mentioned river speed usually slows down during summer months, expect some lake like paddling plus some river paddling, bird watching, photography and fishing moments.
